Roads
Roads are a primary concern for many residents. There have been some positive strides in recent years, with more than 20 road improvement projects already approved for our ward. I will take up the challenge to carry on with this steady momentum of road improvements.
Garbage
The Trail Road landfill is running out of space, and that’s bad news for rural wards. No one wants a new landfill near their home. We need to fund the Solid Waste strategy so that we don’t get a dump in our ward - again.
Crime
The increase in crime and car thefts from our own driveways is alarming. We also must address speeding vehicles, particularly in school and community safety zones. Our ward has no speed cameras at present.
Responsible Development
The City’s Official Plan calls for growth in our villages, so rural residents can access services close to where they live. We need to streamline costs and timelines from a building plan to a completed home in our villages.
Efficiencies
The City needs to implement metrics to identify inefficiencies in their operations. As an example, I have worked on city snow removal crews, and costs to dump snow can triple depending on how the City allocates equipment. Better measurement leads to better efficiency and saving taxpayers money.
Child Care
Parents in our ward can’t find childcare. I commit to work with residents and the City to find suitable locations for more child care.
